1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to the apps published by CLEVERBIT LTD, except apps that have their own privacy policy (the “Apps”), and to the website cleverbit.net (the “Site”). CLEVERBIT LTD (“we”) is the controller of the personal data described here.

2. Data we process

In the Apps:

• usage and device data: app installation identifiers, device model, operating system, language, approximate country (derived from the IP address), app version and in-app events, used to run the Apps, deliver their settings, fix problems and improve content;
• advertising data: some free Apps for Android show non-personalized ads from Google AdMob, which processes the IP address and device and app information to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud;
• purchase data: in-app purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and we receive a confirmation of the purchase.

On the Site:

• contact form: your name, email address, the app you select and your message, used to answer you (providing them is voluntary, but without them we cannot answer); Google reCAPTCHA processes your IP address and browser and device data to protect the form from spam;
• analytics, used to understand how the Site is used and to improve it: our own analytics, without cookies, records page views and how visitors reach and use the Site; with your consent, Google Analytics uses cookies to record page views and interactions, together with your IP address and browser and device data;
• server logs: IP addresses, browser data and requested pages, used to operate and protect the Site.

3. Children

In the Apps directed to children, we collect from children limited usage and device data: app installation identifiers, the IP address, device information and in-app events. We use this data only to support the internal operations of the Apps: to maintain and analyse how the Apps work, to deliver their settings, to serve contextual ads and limit how often they are shown, and to prevent fraud. To ensure that these identifiers are not used to contact a specific child, for behavioural advertising or to build a profile, ad requests from these Apps are tagged as child-directed, the device advertising identifier is not collected, and the Apps have no accounts or registration.

We keep this data only as long as needed for these purposes. Firebase Analytics keeps event-level data for 2 months and user-level data for up to 14 months after the last use of the App. Data processed by Google AdMob is retained by Google under its own retention policies.

We do not hold information that identifies a particular child from this data. Parents can contact us with questions (see section 10).

4. Legal bases

We process personal data on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating, protecting, analysing and improving the Apps and the Site, funding free Apps with non-personalized ads and answering requests, on the basis of contract performance when we provide purchased content, and on the basis of your consent for Google Analytics cookies on the Site.

5. Recipients

Google (Firebase Analytics, Firebase Remote Config, AdMob, Google Analytics, reCAPTCHA), Unity Technologies (Unity engine services used by the Apps), Apple and Google as app stores, and our website hosting provider.

6. International transfers

Some recipients process data outside the European Economic Area. Where the law requires it, such transfers rely on an adequacy decision or on standard contractual clauses. Information about these safeguards is available on request (see section 10).

7. Retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Our own analytics keeps individual page views for 25 months. Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period configured in Google Analytics.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data.

9. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances and subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. You can withdraw your consent to analytics cookies at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

You can object at any time to processing based on our legitimate interests.
